NVCC Students and Staff Take the Plunge to Support Special Olympics

On Saturday, February 27, three Naugatuck Valley Community College students and two staff members took the plunge in Highland Lake for a great cause, the Special Olympics. The "NVCC Ice Breakers" raised over $2,000 dollars for the organization. Half of the proceeds will be directed to the Waterbury Special Olympics.

This year's team consisted of Lt. Toni Rinaldi of Public Safety, Director of Student Activities Karen Blake, SGA Secretary Leah Adams, SGA President Katherine Abreu, and student Lorraine Davis.

Thank you to everyone at NVCC who contributed to and supported the "NVCC Ice Breakers.”  Overall more than $55,000 was raised during the event for Special Olympics with over 100 participants jumping into the 38-degree water.

Dean of Student Services, Sarah Gager praised the efforts on behalf of the Special Olympics.
