Center for Teaching

Welcome to The Center for Teaching

NVCC's Center for Teaching is our institution's local resource offering professional development and support to NVCC faculty and staff related to teaching and learning. We offer interactive workshops, book clubs, "brown bags," "lunch and learns," panels, and roundtable discussions throughout the academic year. We are a part of the statewide Center for Teaching (CFT). The CFT was established in 1987 as a vehicle to promote teaching excellence through the sharing of ideas, the interaction of faculty members on individual campuses, and the creation of coordinated professional development opportunities for the Connecticut Community College system. Upcoming Events

Our events and resources for this academic year will be anchored around the theme of  Meeting Students Where They Are. Our students are diverse in terms of race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, gender, sexuality, religion, educational experiences/opportunities, academic interests, and levels of college preparedness. It is essential that we ‘meet our students where they are’ to help them achieve their goals.  We will be offering live virtual events and providing digital resources and teaching tips through our NVCFT-Teaching-and-Learning Blackboard site.

Please see our newsletter for upcoming events.
