The Basics - FAQ

I'd like to reserve a computer at the Waterbury location.

Click here to reserve a computer in L523.  Please note that only current NVCC students are allowed in the library at this time.  A mask must be worn for the duration of your visit to the library.  Computer use is limited to one person per computer.

Need help making a reservation?  Check out this video!

Please note that you must make a reservation even if you only need to print something quickly.  We recommend making one 15 minute reservation for that purpose.

Danbury students, stay tuned for more information about Danbury computer hours.

I'd like to request a Chromebook or WiFi hotspot.

There is currently a wait list.  Please use this form to add yourself to the list.  A library staff member will contact you when an item is available for you.

I'd like to borrow a course reserve textbook.

Due to safety recommendations, books need to be quarantined for 96 hours after use. Some textbooks will be available for overnight use, but many will not. Call or email us to reserve a current textbook.

We also have older editions of textbooks that can be borrowed for the semester. You can request to borrow an older edition. Check with your professor to see if that will be acceptable.

I'd like to borrow something else from the library.

You can request to borrow something from the library by putting a hold on it through the library catalog.  You can also contact the library to place a request. You can chat with us on our website, call us at (203) 575-8199, text us at (203) 951-8189, or email us and we will place the request for you.  Watch this video to learn more about borrowing items from the library!

Please note that at this time, the book stacks, study tables, and other parts of the library are closed to students.  When your item is ready for pickup, a staff member will contact you to schedule a pickup date and time.  The item will be placed on a cart outside of the library on the 5th floor. When you arrive, you’ll need to show your photo ID before you can take your items.

I'd like to return an item to the library.

Books and movies can be returned by placing them in the book drop outside of the library’s 5th floor entrance. There will be a delay in checking items in due to safety regulations. No late fees will be assessed. Please contact us to return any other equipment.

I'd like to contact the library.
