NVCC Celebrates Five Years of College Goal Sunday
Share
“NVCC takes great pride in hosting this event for the fifth year in a row,” said NVCC President Daisy Cocco De Filippis, Ph.D. “NVCC and all Connecticut community colleges offer a smart choice for families to avail themselves of a quality, affordable education designed to meet student and community needs and to contribute to the transformation of Connecticut’s economy.”
Upon arriving, students were assigned a volunteer financial aid staffer who walked them through the financial aid process. “It was wonderful,” said NVCC Financial Aid Director Cathy Hardy. “Financial aid professionals were successful in assisting 85 families in filling out FAFSAs for the upcoming aid year.”
NVCC staff members generously volunteered their time for the event. They represented an array of campus departments including the Financial Aid Office, Student Activities, the Center for Academic Planning and Student Success, WAVE, the Connecticut Collegiate Awareness and Preparation program and Connecticut Community Scholars. In addition, financial aid administrators from other community colleges and private institutions lent their expertise.
This year, College Goal Sunday was offered at 14 locations across Connecticut. Those seeking more information may call 1-888-277-2270 or visit collegegoalsundayct.org. College Goal Sunday efforts in Connecticut are led by the Connecticut Association of Professional Financial Aid Administrators and the Connecticut Association for Educational Opportunity Programs.
