The Ion Bank Foundation recently presented a $15,000 gift to Naugatuck Valley Community College to name the Computer Lab in Founders Hall. President Daisy Cocco de Filippis, Ph.D. who accepted the check on behalf of the College, acknowledged the Ion Bank Foundation’s continuing support of NVCC’s students, “the Ion Bank Foundation has been a valued friend to this campus and to our collaborative efforts in the community. The Ion Bank Foundation’s generous gift will benefit our students and all who use the technology in this lab.”

The Computer Lab is a key educational component of the new Center for Health Sciences at NVCC. Centrally located on the main level, it is a destination for students, faculty, and health care professionals to learn with state-of-the-art audio-visual technology. The computer lab offers the campus community access to computing resources and a variety of software in support of learning, scholarship, and creative endeavors.

The lab features unique software with digital imaging programs designed to assist students with concept mastery. All health science programs use the computer lab to facilitate learning and for standardized pre-licensure testing in preparation for successful careers.

The naming gift is part of NVCC’s ongoing capital campaign which continues to attract support from corporations, foundations, and individuals in the College’s 22-town service region and beyond. Students, faculty, administration, and staff also have donated to the campaign which outfits the new building with modern equipment to prepare students for growing jobs in healthcare.
