On Saturday April 30th, 2022, the NViSION Program, the NVCC STEM Club, and the Pond’s Memorial Fund hosted the 2nd Annual STEM Festival on the NVCC campus. An estimated 600 to 800 people attended the afternoon's festivities and enjoyed a fabulous afternoon learning about science, technology, engineering, and math with various hand-on experiments and demonstrations by STEM faculty, staff, and students. There was a wide variety of other various family-friendly activities including music, food, a reptile experience, bounce obstacle course, and lots more fun!
There were activities for STEM enthusiasts of all ages! Instructions for many of the demonstrations including how to make elephant toothpaste, slime, holograms, lava lamps, bottle rockets, and hovercrafts on the NViSION website (Academics/Academic-Programs/Academic-Divisions/STEM/NViSION/NViSION-STEM-Festival-DIY-Experiments) and attendees are encouraged to replicate these activities at home. The State Champion NVCC Quadcopter Team, sponsored by the NASA Space Grant and whose team included 3 NViSION students, also showcased their final project at this STEM Festival. What a great afternoon! Kudos to the NViSION Scholars, STEM Club members, the organizers Professors Marian Zerbi and Rebecca Binney, and the many other students, faculty and staff who joined together to make this event possible.
