‘Super Saturday Registration Blitz’ Packs the Halls at Naugatuck Valley Community College on August 5
The convenience of a “one-stop” process to apply, test and register for fall 2017 classes offered by the “Super Saturday Registration Blitz,” was a big hit with students and families who attended the events on the Waterbury and Danbury campuses of NVCC.

The events at both campuses offered access for admissions, testing, financial aid, advising and registration for fall classes, which begin on Tuesday, August 29. NVCC staff from Admissions, Advising/Counseling, Academic Affairs, the Registrar’s Office, Financial Aid, the Bursar’s  Office, and others, were available to assist students through the application and registration processes as well as class schedules, course selection, financial aid applications, testing and other matters.

New students had the opportunity to apply, receive assistance with financial aid and meet with an advisor on the same day.  Students who had not yet earned college credit in math and English, or had not taken the SAT tests, were required to take a basic skills placement test prior to registering. Testing hours were from 9 am-12:30 pm in Waterbury and 9 am -12:00 pm in Danbury. The NVCC Admissions Offices in both Waterbury and Danbury reported brisk student traffic for placement tests.

Noel Rosamilio, Associate Dean of Enrollment Management at the Waterbury campus and Antonio Santiago, Associate Dean of the Danbury campus reported that the event made a difference for the students at both campuses. The convenience and support services offered at the Super Saturday event helped working families to participate in the enrollment process with their students.

Rosamilio and Santiago agreed, “It was great to see so many students excited to complete their enrollment and registration process all in one stop. It was clear that the students left the College more confident in themselves and their decision to choose NVCC as the next step in their higher education.”

It’s not too late to register for the fall semester, additional START/ walk-in sessions will be held on both campuses.
