President Daisy Cocco De Filippis, Ph.D., the faculty and staff of Naugatuck Valley Community College hosted the annual orientation program to welcome new students and their families. The program began with Student Registration and a Continental Breakfast for students and parents. The program continued with the faculty outlook presented by Professor Christopher Rempfer, an introduction to campus safety by Lieutenant Jeffrey D’Alusio, Director of Public Safety and ended with Break-out Sessions for Students/Parents.

The Student Program was presented by NVCC Student Government Association (SGA) President, Tabitha Cruz and the SGA Officers. Directors from the Academic Center for Success (ACE), Center for Academic Planning & Student Success (CAPSS), the Library, and the Center for Job Placement & Career Opportunities (CJPCO) introduced students to the support resources, and campus tours will be led by the Dean of Student Services and NVCC Student Ambassadors.

A program for parents presented information on Financial Aid, Disability Services, and Veterans Affairs. Campus tours, introducing students “all the NVCC has to offer” followed.

Looking forward to another year at NVCC, President De Filippis noted, “As the new academic year begins we are ready to welcome our new students to our campuses in Waterbury and Danbury. It is a joy to welcome students to our caring academic community of purpose where intelligence and kindness come together to change lives through the power of education.”
