NVCC Welcomes New Manufacturing Students and their Families
With the start of a new academic year, NVCC welcomed its eighth cohort of manufacturing students. The program was introduced by Joseph Defeo, Program Director for the AMTC. NVCC President, Daisy Cocco De Filippis, Ph.D., and Cyndi Zoldy, Executive Director for the Smaller Manufacturers Association (SMA) of Connecticut, Inc., followed with encouraging remarks.  The Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center (AMTC) at Naugatuck Valley Community College began enrolling students in the fall of 2012. Since then, hundreds of students have completed the certificate program and moved on to careers with area manufacturing companies.

Past graduates of the program shared their stories with the new students. Samantha Paecht, a 2018 graduate of the program, currently employed by Trumpf Inc., in Farmington Connecticut, and Nick Wilkins, currently employed by H&T Waterbury Inc., shared their challenges and reassured the students of the support they received at the AMTC.

The College has partnerships with over 200 local manufacturers. Presently the AMTC boasts a 100% job placement rate in good manufacturing jobs throughout the greater Waterbury, Danbury and Northwest corridor of the state with an average starting salary between $17.50 and $20 per hour.
