Connecting Students with the Region’s Employers
Close to 40 employers from around the state of Connecticut as well as five neighboring states attended NVCC’s Students for Hire Job Fair held in the College’s Café West on October 4. The three-hour event brought in 500 job-seeking students, several of which got interview opportunities as a result of stopping by the fair. This is the 19th year the Center for Job Placement and College Opportunities (CJPCO) has hosted and facilitated the event.
“These events are mutually beneficial to both the students and the companies and organizations that attend. These events also allow the business community to see very clearly what we have to offer in terms of our student body,” said Antony Wormack, Director of the CJPCO.
The CJPCO will be involved in other events this semester including the General Studies fair on November 7th, and the Campus Conversation, which will also be held the same day. The topic for the Campus Conversation is “Need Blind Transfer.”
For those who missed the fair, the CJPCO has the College Central online job board which is available 24/7 for job searches, access to a resume-builder application, podcasts, and news articles related to careers, job search, on-the-job tips, resumes, interviews and more. In addition, NVCC students may also make appointments for employment-seeking consultations on resumes, cover letters, job searches, interview skills and help with college transfer and applications.
