NVCC Foundation Raises More than $3,000 at Dr. Christopher Love Fundraising Breakfast in June
The NVCC Foundation hosted the Dr. Christopher Love Fundraising Breakfast on June 29. More than $3,000 was raised from the breakfast which will go towards a $10,000 goal to create permanent endowment at the Foundation which will be used to support African American students at NVCC who demonstrate leadership and academic excellence. Nearly 100 community members, friends and family of Love, and several elected officials including Representative Jahana Hayes (D-CT 5th District)  attended the breakfast which was held in the Community Room in Founders Hall.

According to John Murray, one of the dozens of attendees and the Publisher and Editor of local independent The Waterbury Observer, “Today Congresswoman Jahana Hayes gave a moving speech about her friendship with Chris Love and how he had inspired her so many years ago. Family and friends stood up to share funny and inspiring stories about Chris Love and there was laughter and tears.”

“The overwhelming amount of love and support shown at the event was a testament to the legacy of hope that Dr. Love left in the community. I am excited to see the growth of this scholarship in his honor to support African American students at NVCC that demonstrate leadership and academic success,” said NVCC Associate Dean of Development Angela Chapman.
