Naugatuck Valley Community College Preparing Festivities to Celebrate 50 Year Anniversary and Ribbon Cutting of the New Center for Health Sciences

Save the Date!

NVCC has multiple reasons to celebrate. This fall marks 50 years of higher education and community service as well as the formal opening of its newest building- the Founders Hall Center for Health Sciences.  The ceremonies begin on Thursday, October 12, when the traditional NVCC Confluencia poetry reading will feature the presentation of the anniversary volume published by the College to honor this milestone. The Confluencia program also includes an open mic and readings from faculty and staff poets. It will open with a reception hosted by President Daisy Cocco De Filippis, Ph.D., who initiated the tradition of Confluencia nine years ago, when she first came to NVCC. The event is free and open to the public.

Friday, October 13, the festivities begin in the afternoon at 2:00 when the College will dedicate the tree-lined quadrangle in front of the new building to Professor Joseph Faryniarz in grateful recognition of his generous dedication to the grounds and mentoring of NVCC students. At 2:30 the ribbon cutting ceremony officially marks the opening of the new Center for Health Sciences. Planned for outdoors, it will be held in the atrium in case of rain. The reception and tours following the ribbon cutting will also be held in the Juan and Carmen Núñez Atrium. The event is open to the public. Visitors to the event will have the opportunity to see the Center for Health Sciences inside and out.

A reception honoring donors to the Capital Campaign for the Center for Health Sciences is planned for 4:30pm.

On Saturday, October 14, 2017, the College is celebrating the Naugatuck Valley Community College 50th Anniversary Community Festival.  This all-day event is free and open to the public.
