Naugatuck Valley Community College Opens Winter 2020 and Spring 2021 Registration
NVCC opened registration for current students to enroll in winter 2020 and spring 2021 classes on Tuesday, October 20.

Winter classes are held between the fall and spring semesters and are held 100% online.

Students from NVCC and many other colleges use these classes to get ahead or make up a class. Classes begin December 16, 2020 and continue through January 15, 2021. Applying is easy, only a transcript and application are needed.  Admissions-and-Aid/Getting-Started/Winter-Intersession-Classes

For the spring 2021 semester, courses are offered in several formats including traditional on-campus classes, online, live/remote with online component, and hybrid of online and on-campus. More details about the different course types may be found on the College website. Academics/Academic-Programs/Instructional-Methods

Current NVCC students are encouraged to speak with their advisors about spring semester courses; they may register at https://ssb-prod.ec.commnet.edu/luminis/login.html

Bonnie Goulet, Director of the Center for Academic Planning and Student Success (CAPSS), commented on the process. “The NVCC CAPSS office is prepared to assist students with creating academic plans and registering for courses that meet their educational goals.  We’re available through virtual and phone appointments and look forward to serving our students.”

For continuing and returning students, CAPSS will host Student Advising and Registration events. Based on a successful model developed last semester, advisors will be on hand to help with myCommNet, registration questions, class advising, and financial aid. The advising event will be held on Wednesday, October 28, from 3 - 7 p.m. Designed to help students stay on track to meet their college goals, it offers either on-campus or virtual advising. The on-campus portion will be held in Technology Hall on the Waterbury campus. Online and on-campus classes begin January 22, 2021.

According to Director Goulet, three additional events are planned before the start of classes:

Friday, November 13, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., Saturday, December 5, from 9 a.m. -1 p.m. and Saturday, January 9, 2021, from 9 a.m. -1 p.m.

For new students, registration begins Thursday, October 22. Students new to NVCC must first speak with an advisor and choose a virtual advising session by visiting the college website. Admissions-and-Aid/Getting-Started/Visit#cdn-8229

Blayre L. Millo, Associate Director of Admissions, commented. “It is with great enthusiasm that the NVCC Admissions Department welcomes our new students to the spring semester and to our campus community! We look forward to the opportunity to assist and guide our students as they begin their educational journeys at NVCC.”

The wide selection of formats allows students to take classes closer to home this year. NVCC CEO, Lisa Dresdner encouraged new and current students to register for winter and spring classes. “NVCC is pleased to offer students a variety of courses in various formats to best support the needs and preferences of today’s learners. Our faculty and staff are well prepared to provide students with a high-quality education and support services in-person and online.”
