On-campus student workers are mentored by NVCC staff and often perform roles that align with their studies including marketing, communication, event planning and office administration.  Jobs on Campus empowers students with financial need to maximize their time on campus with jobs tailored to their academic goals. Since 2014 campus, donor and community support for the program have grown on both the Waterbury and Danbury Campuses.

In June of 2015, the College received a $100,000 grant from the Leonhardt Scholarship Program through Fairfield County’s Community Foundation to expand its Student Jobs on Campus program to Danbury. The grant, which flowed through the NVCC Foundation, was planned to support students living in Fairfield County by providing funds for the College to hire them into student worker positions.  Eight students benefitted from the program in the spring of 2015, three graduated to continue their studies at universities; the remaining five continued at NVCC. The College has worked with the NVCC Foundation to support and expand the program to its current level of 11 students this academic year.  With an average yearly award of $2,800 per student, the opportunity to make a difference in the life of a student is affordable and rewarding.

The College hosted a reception to acknowledge donors to the program including the Connecticut Community Foundation (CCF), and several private donors. CCF has been supporting the program at the level of $ 15,000 per year since summer 2016. The amount spent each year for employment of these students now exceeds one half million dollars.

With an annual full-time tuition of $4,316 and student-centered support from programs like Jobs on Campus, NVCC continues to make a difference for students of all ages and income levels. In 2016 the U.S. Department of Education ranked public two-year colleges for their effectiveness in serving low-income students with relatively high outcomes. Naugatuck Valley Community College (NVCC) was among the top 25 community colleges nationwide that advance opportunities for low-income students. NVCC enrolls 41% of low-income students, with graduates averaging $34,100 in earnings 10 years after enrollment, and 75% of borrowers successfully paying down their loans three years after graduation.

In 2012 NVCC became the first community college in Connecticut to award a total of more than 1,000 associate degrees and certificates.  As of 2017, this achievement has continued for six years in a row.  Since Academic Year 2007-2008, the College has seen a 136% increase in the total number of awards, a 135% increase in the number of male graduates and a 465% increase in Hispanic student graduates.
