CSCU President Ojakian Visits NVCC to Attend Constitution Trivia Contest
The Student Government Association (SGA) of Naugatuck Valley Community College hosted Constitution Trivia on September 14, 2016. The event was the culmination of two weeks of social media, featuring questions about the U.S. Constitution, where a daily winner was selected from both the Waterbury and Danbury campuses by the SGA.  A pocket reference guide called The U.S. Constitution and Fascinating Facts About It was distributed throughout the campus for the two weeks leading up to the final trivia match to increase awareness of the contest and more importantly, of the constitution.

The event was a collaboration between Academic Affairs and Student Services to promote awareness of the U.S. Constitution. Faculty contributed the questions for the daily trivia contest.

At the final competition, NVCC President Daisy Cocco De Filippis, Ph.D. delivered the opening welcome. The President noted how proud she was of the participation and enthusiasm the students showed for this event. She cited the preamble to the Constitution, “We the people…”

On the day of the competition, Mark Ojakian, President of the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities was invited to watch 7 teams of 4 students each compete in front of a standing- room-only crowd. Against a festive backdrop of patriotic red, white and blue regalia, the trivia match was competitive. Prizes were awarded to the first place team. The SGA provided a free pizza lunch.
