Annual Student Leadership Banquet Highlights Vibrant Campus Life
Naugatuck Valley Community College students, administrators, faculty and staff celebrated the accomplishments made through the College’s clubs and activities during the annual Student Leadership and Recognition Banquet on May 21 at the Grand Oak Villa.

The event is a way of honoring students and advisors who have volunteered their time and energy working within the 36 clubs that comprise the Student Government Association (SGA) to make NVCC a better place.

“All of you dear students have had a remarkable year,” said NVCC President Daisy Cocco De Filippis, Ph.D. She shared the poem Listen to This Music by Persian lyric poet Hafiz, which the President noted “speaks to our common humanity but also to the capacity each of us has to become the instrument of goodness.”

Director of Student Activities Karen Blake thanked the advisors for their guidance and help allowing students to make important differences on campus and in the Waterbury and Danbury communities.

“Our clubs have accomplished so much within the community,” Blake said. “We thank our students, advisors and staff members for making it all possible.”

The celebration featured artistic performances by NVCC student Kenrico Ferreira, the Stage Society and the Terpsichorean Dance Ensemble, followed by music and dancing.
