AMTC Receives Grants for Manufacturing Recruitment

Representatives from the Precision Metalforming Association were on campus April 24 to confer the funds

The Precision Metalforming Association (PMA) presented Naugatuck Valley Community College with two $1,000 checks on Thurs., April 24, 2014 to support advanced manufacturing at the College. According to Joe Defeo, coordinator of the NVCC Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center (AMTC), the grants will be used to boost promotion and recruitment initiatives.

“Our goal is to create something that visually shows the progress of the Center since it was established last fall, highlighting the industry partners who have worked with us to develop curriculum and ultimately provide real experience for our students,” he said.

A small ceremony was held in AMTC and attended by evening manufacturing students and instructors. On hand to present the checks were Bill Adler, chairman of the PMA Board of Directors; Steve Izzo, district chairman, and Ed Tremblay, treasurer, of the Southern New England PMA district.
