This year, the SMA of Connecticut presented their annual Student of the Year honors to NVCC Advanced Manufacturing Technology student, Steve Hintz at their 2021 annual meeting.
Deidre D’Amore, Enrollment/Retention Specialist from Naugatuck Valley Community College noted that Hintz, selected by the NVCC instructional staff, is “highly motivated and exceptionally deserving” as the recipient of this year’s Student of the Year Award.
Anthony DiFederico, NVCC Instructor of Business and Industry from the Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center (AMTC) enthusiastically recommended Hintz. “He shows up early, stays late and asks for help. He shows commitment and perseverance in the face of challenges. He is not afraid to fail and he is proud of what he does. He is an incredible student who has heart for his work and for his classmates. I can honestly say he is one awesome student who has made teaching worthwhile.”
CEO of NVCC, Lisa Dresdner, Ph.D., commented, “All of us at Naugatuck Valley Community College are extremely proud of Steve for the distinguished honor recognized by the SMA. On behalf of all our students, faculty, and staff, we appreciate the support of the Smaller Manufacturers Association.”
NVCC is proud to offer certificate programs in advanced manufacturing. For incumbent workers with experience in manufacturing, it is an opportunity to modernize skills, making them more attractive to employers in today’s job market. For students new to the workforce, the AMTC certificate will have you confident and prepared to work in a manufacturing environment.
