In Danbury, the college welcomed students, parents and families to a standing-room only crowd. In Waterbury more than 400 students and their families filled the Mainstage Theater.

The Danbury program featured welcoming remarks by President De Filippis and Dean of Academic Affairs, Lisa Dresdner, Ph.D. The Waterbury program featured welcoming remarks by Dean of Academic Affairs, Lisa Dresdner, Ph.D.  and professor William Foster. Leaders of resources for student success including the Library, Academic Center for Excellence (ACE), Center for Academic Advising and Student Success (CAPSS), Financial Aid, and officers of the Student Government were present to offer support and perspective.

Director of Student Activities, Karen Blake organized the events at both campuses to support students with a warm welcome and informative introduction to NVCC.

President De Filippis told students, “Your success is our expectation. Coming here, you cross into another place. A place of learning, a place of opportunities, a place of transportation.”

At the Waterbury orientation on August 25, Dean Dresdner enthusiastically introduced the College’s fourth Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence, Aguibou Bougobali Sanou, who is here with his wife and one-and-a-half year-old son from Burkina Faso. Sanou is delighted to be part of the NVCC family and to teach dance to students and the greater community during his residency.
