Naugatuck Valley Community College President Daisy Cocco De Filippis, Ph.D. and members of the College Cabinet traveled to New York University on April 6, where they were the special guests of Martha J. Kanter, Ed.D.  Dr. Kanter, a distinguished visiting professor of Higher Education and senior fellow at the Steinhardt Institute of Higher Education Policy at NYU, invited President De Filippis and her team to present their perspectives on leading a community college in Connecticut to students in her graduate course on The American Community College. 

Dr. Kanter, who served as the U.S. Under Secretary of Education from 2009 to 2013, was the keynote speaker at a celebration last September marking NVCC’s 50 years of higher education and community service. She plans to return to campus this coming September.
