NVCC Inducts Six New Student Ambassadors into President’s Circle

Naugatuck Valley Community College inducted six new students into the prestigious President’s Circle on October 9 in a ceremony held in the Technology Hall Dining Room.  Membership represents the highest honor a student may receive while matriculating at the College. These students have a minimum GPA of 3.4 and they represent a select group of outstanding achievers who serve as the College’s student ambassadors.

“This is a wonderful moment in your lives for you and your family and dear friends and classmates,” said NVCC President Daisy Cocco De Filippis, Ph.D. “Seize the moment to grow and to imagine yourself in your full potential as a caring and successful human being. Do not underestimate the possibilities that life offers you.”

Inductees also heard words of inspiration from keynote speaker, attorney Linda T. Wihbey, who serves as corporation counsel for the City of Waterbury. Wihbey is a past mentor to a number of NVCC students.

President’s Circle ambassadors have the opportunity to attend major College events with the President and/or her Cabinet and lend voice to their experiences as NVCC students. They are given platforms to directly engage with community leaders, officials, alumni and friends. Membership enables these students to make connections, build networks and further their roles as active citizens and leaders.

Circle membership is not based solely on academic achievement. Candidates must also demonstrate strength of character, resilience to challenges and a commitment to the community and NVCC.

President’s Circle applications are accepted in the spring for high-achieving students wishing to serve as ambassadors for Naugatuck Valley Community College. Applications are available online or at the main desk at the NVCC Library in Room L523.
