NVCC Hosting Information Events for Adult Students Looking to Complete or Start College
Naugatuck Valley Community College is a destination with affordable solutions for older students.  For readers who are thinking about going back to school to finish a degree, or pursue a new one in a recently discovered area of interest, NVCC has a developed a new format for interactive, information events. Held in the evenings to make attendance convenient with work schedules, the events introduce prospective students to a series of degree, certificate and career options. Produced and directed by the College’s Office of Admissions under the leadership of Associate Dean of Enrollment Management, Noel Rosamilio, the events feature professionals from financial aid, advising, admissions, and older students who have volunteered to share their “coming back to college” story.

Marlon Bramwell, a 2019 graduate of NVCC, who came back to College talked about his experience coming back to NVCC. “Being out of school for a few years, I wasn’t sure if I’d be ready to take classes again. The faculty and staff at NVCC encouraged me to make the best of my opportunities here and put the steps in place to get a good career and make a future for myself.  I love that a lot of my professors have real-world experience.  Having worked myself, I appreciate how important that is.  I’m graduating and looking forward to career in Computer Information Systems. NVCC offered me a winning opportunity, all It took was to apply myself. You can do it too!

Students who had similar experiences will be in attendance at the event to talk with prospective students. The first event will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2020 at 6:00 pm in Technology Hall T516 on the Waterbury campus of NVCC. Registration is not required. The event is open to the community.

Commenting on NVCC’s continued commitment to serving adult learners, President Daisy Cocco De Filippis noted, “NVCC’s work with adult learners has been recognized as significant by Washington Monthly in both 2017 and 2019.  I am grateful for the good work of Associate Dean Rosamilio and her dedicated team as we continue to schedule events at convenient times for all. NVCC is the place to build your dreams.”

Interim Associate Director of Admissions, Blayre Millo, noted that “anyone considering a career change or degree completion, should join us to learn what affordable solutions for change NVCC offers.”
