NVCC Dancers Donate Performances to the Art of Mental Health Celebration at the Mattatuck Museum

Share

On May 20, a group of dance program students from Naugatuck Valley Community College performed as part of the “Art of Mental Health” celebration held at the Mattatuck Museum in Waterbury. Under the advising of Professor Megan Boyd, the NVCC Dance Program donated two dance performances to the Mattatuck Museum’s sponsorship of We Stand Youth Empowerment and Advocacy Group. NVCC students choreographed and performed their original works. Other performances included poetry reading and singing. Performing Arts have helped facilitate community engagement and participation to support mental health and youth advocacy in the local Waterbury community. This is the second performance donation from the NVCC dance program to the We Stand Youth Empowerment and Advocacy Group under the direction of Josephine Bennett. The first fundraising event took place November 2016.
