Funded by a $10,000 endowment, the scholarship will award approximately $500 annually to a student who meets the qualifications of a minimum 3.00 GPA and demonstrates significant community or college service.
Commenting on her memories of the students, faculty and the College, Dr. De Filippis noted, “I am happy to provide this modest beginning for the Cocco De Filippis Family Endowed Scholarship in support of our wonderful students, hopefully for many years to come. NVCC is a place so close to my heart because of the talent and care of our faculty, the determination and intelligence of our students and the generosity and kindness of community members. NVCC and our students make a difference.”
Associate Dean of Development, Angela Chapman, commented on the award. “We are sincerely grateful to President Emerita De Filippis for her continued generosity and support of NVCC and our students. The Cocco De Filippis Family Scholarship endowment will permanently provide crucial support for our students now and in the future.”
