Naugatuck Valley Community College Hosts Third Annual Open House

More than 500 potential students, parents and educators attended Naugatuck Valley Community College’s third annual Spring Open House on Sunday, April 26 in the College’s Technology Hall Atrium.

“Whether you’re looking to enroll full-time for the fall semester or take summer courses which will transfer to another institution, NVCC is a great place to get the skills and college credit to compete in today’s job market,” said Dean of Student Services Sarah Gager. “The crowd at the open house is a testament to the supportive environment we’ve developed for students of all ages, which provides guidance from the point of application all the way to graduation, including transitioning into the workforce or transferring to a four-year institution.”

At the open house, faculty, staff and student leaders were available to speak one-on-one with visitors about applying to and attending NVCC. Campus tours occurred throughout the day with stops at the Library, Academic Center for Excellence, Student Center, Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center, Hospitality Management Program, allied health labs and other popular locations.  In addition, the College offered workshops on topics including financial aid, admissions and student/academic life. One workshop was held exclusively in Spanish.

The event provided an excellent opportunity for prospective students to learn about the 100+ degree, certificate and workforce-ready programs offered by the College, as well as the comprehensive services including daily free tutoring and one-on-one advisement which are available to all NVCC students.  High school students, transfer students, displaced workers and current employees looking to improve skills or enhance credentials will find an assortment of programs at the College to help meet their goals.
