Naugatuck Valley Community College Hosts President’s Circle Induction
The President’s Circle at Naugatuck Valley Community is made up of a select group of outstanding achievers who serve as the College’s student ambassadors. Circle Ambassadors have the opportunity to attend major college events with the President and/or her Cabinet, and lend voice to their experiences as NVCC students. Through membership, students have access to platforms that allow them to directly engage with community leaders, officials, alumni and friends of the College. They have opportunities to make connections, build networks, and further their own pathway toward becoming an active citizens and leaders. Applicants, selected by the President, receive recognition, a small scholarship and a letter of recommendation from President De Filippis upon successful completion of their 2-semester term and graduation from NVCC.

At the 2019 Induction Ceremony, President De Filippis welcomed the students, faculty and staff who so generously support student outcomes in the President’s Circle and at the College. “The President’s Circle invites you in to become its ambassador because we believe that you have much to contribute but also much to learn, and that you are open to the possibility of learning and of sharing knowledge for the benefit of all of us at NVCC and the larger world family.”

Karen Rotella, Professor of Hospitality Management delivered the Keynote Address. She shared the importance of leadership and service with our guests. Professor Rotella encouraged students “to present your best selves and the best of NVCC to your peers, your professors and your community while serving as President’s Circle Ambassadors.”

The 2019-2020 President’s Circle Inductees included Salma Akter, General Studies, Pre-Nursing; Rola Ammar, Business Management; Jyrel Hawk, CSCU Transfer Pathway, Political Science; Kayla Mills, CSCU Transfer Pathway, Criminology Studies; Beatrice Paulin, General Studies, Pre-Nursing.
