Naugatuck Valley Community College Hosts National Phi Theta Kappa

Naugatuck Valley Community College President Daisy Cocco De Filippis, Ph.D., and Dean of Academic Affairs, Lisa Dresdner, Ph.D., welcomed students to the conference. President De Filippis commented on the conference, “This is a wonderful opportunity for student leadership from six different states to come together to explore diversity, purpose and advocacy in leadership. A big bravo to NVCC students: Joanne Saalfrank, Salma Akter, and Erika Crabe for their leadership and dedication to NVCC. And I extend a very special thank you to Professors Harding and Kaufmann for bringing this event to NVCC.”
The event featured a series of break-out sessions that focused on coaching tools, effective communication, emotional intelligence and team work. The students acknowledged special thanks to NVCC Professors Lisa Kaufman and John Harding for their leadership of the PTK program at NVCC.
