Naugatuck Valley Community College Foundation Awarded Grant to Support Female Students with Financial Need
The Waterbury Women’s Club has awarded $5,000 to the Naugatuck Valley Community College Foundation in support of female students who demonstrate financial need to complete their education. These awards will not be based on students’ grade point averages (GPA).

Geri Thomas, President of the Waterbury Women’s Club commented on the donation. “The Waterbury Women's Club was founded and organized in 1889 by Elizabeth Robinson Alcott. We are a family of women doing many of the things women do best, nurturing and supporting our community. ‘There is no force more powerful than a woman determined to rise’ (Basa Sebele Botswana-Swahili).” 

Angela Chapman, Associate Dean of Development, will oversee the application process. The NVCC Foundation Scholarship Committee will review the applications and make the awards. Chapman noted, “We are extremely grateful to the Waterbury Women’s Club for their abundant generosity to help women in need as they pursue their educational goals at NVCC.  This gift is more than financial support to our female students; i is an act of compassion to build lives of stability and opportunity.  We sincerely appreciate the Waterbury Women’s Club for believing in our students.”
