Hundreds Attend Sixth Annual Brass City Comic Con at NVCC

Hundreds attended the sixth annual Brass City Comic Convention on July 26 at Naugatuck Valley Community College. The convention offered hands-on activities, a self-defense demonstration, a diverse mix of vendors selling toys, action figures and collectibles and opportunities for autographs.

“All and all, it was a super day,” said NVCC Professor William H. Foster III, who has coordinated the event since its inception. “The 2015 Brass City Comic Con was a roaring success. With the cooperation of everyone on campus including Student Activities, Public Safety, the campus setup crew and the Con partners, we were able to present an exciting and fun-filled family event.”

Foster, who’s recognized nationally for his research of racial representation in comic books, and in the NVCC community for his powerful lectures, began collecting comics at age 12. It has been a passion ever since.

A portion of the proceeds from the event benefits Safe Haven of Greater Waterbury, Inc., a provider of free shelter and confidential services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. The convention was produced by the NVCC Martial Arts Club, Legends of Superheros and Lucky Star Entertainment.
