Fall Semester Wraps Up with All-College Meeting

Naugatuck Valley Community College faculty and staff gathered for the end-of-semester All-College Meeting on December 9. The agenda included approval of applicants for January conferral, a report from the Curriculum and Educational Affairs Committee, an update on NVCC’s strategic planning process and special recognition of members of the campus community for their service to the College and the State of Connecticut.

“I am happy to join you this afternoon to celebrate the end of another academic semester and the talent of so many who work hard and share generously with the NVCC family,” said NVCC President Daisy Cocco De Filippis, Ph.D. “Another year comes to a close; a year when all of us adapted well to changing conditions and have stayed true to our commitment to dream big, work hard and move forward for a higher purpose.”

President De Filippis noted that the next several months will find the campus community hard at work preparing the final report on NVCC’s 2013-16 strategic plan, consulting and writing the next strategic plan and developing the College’s first-ever Facilities Master Plan.

Joined by NVCC Foundation Vice Chairman William Burgess, President De Filippis presented longtime friend of the College Mary Rosengrant-Chiappalone with an award for distinguished service to the foundation. They highlighted Rosengrant-Chiappalone’s many contributions to NVCC over the years and thanked her for her tireless service to the College and the community.

The event was topped off with a talent show highlighting the extensive and varied talents of NVCC students, faculty and staff. The show, produced by NVCC Payroll Clerk Yolanda Crowder and Library Services Director Jaime Hammond, featured everything from music to prose to sword fighting:
