On March 29, CDC students gathered in the Plaza where they were met by several Waterbury police officers and an equine member of the city’s police force. The youngsters, along with practicum students, were able to pet and visit with the horse and hop into one of the department’s cruisers that was parked nearby for a truly unique hands-on learning experience. The visit was the first of its kind and coordinated by Waterbury police officer Matt Lemos, the father of a current CDC student, along with Abbie Calo, CDC Director, Courtney Sepanski, Jeff D’Alusio, Lieutenant Sergeant and Director of NVCC’s Public Safety Department and his staff, and NVCC Deans Lisa Dresdner, Ph.D., and Dana Elm.
On April 27, NVCC President Daisy Cocco De Filippis, Ph.D., joined the children for morning story-time reading from book İPío Peep! which contains traditional Spanish nursery rhymes with English adaptations.
For those who missed these events, it’s not too late to check out the CDC’s annual art exhibit which is currently on view on the fifth floor walkway of Kinney Hall.
