All-College Meeting Wraps Up Fall Semester, Offers Time to Reflect on 2018 Accomplishments
Naugatuck Valley Community College faculty and staff gathered on December 5 for the end-of-semester All-College Meeting. The agenda included approval of the applicants for the January 2019 degree conferral and voting on Curriculum and Educational Affairs Committee items.

NVCC President Daisy Cocco De Filippis, Ph.D. welcomed the NVCC community and expressed thanks for all of its collective hard work and dedication to the college’s students. “Another academic year comes to a close and a year when we stayed true to our mission as we continued to work hard, to see significant celebrations of achievements as well as the challenge of unexpected budgetary cuts and uncertain organizational changes and strategies,” she said in her opening remarks.

Joined by NVCC Dean of Academic Affairs, Dr. Lisa Dresdner; Dean of Administration, Dana Elm; and Director of Human Resources Kim Carolina, President De Filippis presented three long-time employees of the College emeritus awards. President De Filippis highlighted the employees’ contributions to NVCC over the years and thanked them for their dedicated service to the College. Following this, four employees were recognized for their service in the areas of Academic Affairs, Student Services, and Administration and service awards for employees completing 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, and 40 years of state service were also honored. President De Filippis was among those honored for completing 10 years of service at the College since beginning in 2008.

The event concluded with a talent show highlighting the extensive and varied talents of NVCC students, faculty, staff, and community members. Produced by NVCC Payroll Clerk Yolanda Crowder and Library Services Director Jaime Hammond, the talent show included five acts ranging from a capella to a recitation of poetry to a choreographed African-inspired dance by NVCC’s fourth Fulbright scholar-in-residence Aguibo Bougobali Sanou.  The spring meeting is scheduled for the morning of February 1 and will be held in the Community Room in Founders Hall.
