President De Filippis commented. “In the face of the quarantined response to a global pandemic, NVCC is redoubling efforts to stay focused, develop creative solutions and be a force for good by repurposing College resources to support health care workers at local hospitals.”
Director of the AMTC at NVCC, Joseph DeFeo confirmed that production continues with PPE devices, specifically ear protectors.
Previously two stalwart AMTC instructors, Chuck Buchanan, Academic Associate in the AMTC, and Curtiss McClure, Business & Industry Instructor were coordinating the production of face shields and ear protectors using the College’s 3D printers. Buchannan noted. “We have stopped the production of the face shields. We are still making ear savers and will continue to make them in collaboration with Danker Designs.”
