  • SECOND PLACE: Alam Khan, Editor’s Notebook, “Diamonds of Wisdom”
  • THIRD PLACE: Christopher Gordon, Thank You All, “Being Brave”
  • Layout Non-Page 1 – SECOND PLACE: Janice Bielawa, April 2018 Issue
  • Layout Page 1 – SECOND PLACE: Janice Bielawa, March 2018 Issue

Parlato, expressed heartfelt congratulations to his talented staff. He stated, I can’t begin to express how proud I am of ALL of my staff. As I read the list of winners, I reflected on the hard work and challenges of putting together a newspaper that truly makes a difference in readers’ lives—and certainly in my own. There were so many other pieces we submitted that were absolutely worthy of honoring. Though it would be impossible for all to be formally recognized with an SPJ Award, I recognize my staff’s continued excellence.”

NVCC President, Daisy Cocco De Filippis, Ph.D. responded enthusiastically to the notice of the awards. “This is so spectacular!  This is so wonderful, dear students, I am so very proud of you and so grateful to Professor Parlato for all that he does for so many of you. Bendiciones.”

The Tamarack is available on the College website.
