NVCC: Ready for You

We're Ready to Welcome You

Whether on-campus or online, your safety and success are our priority.

We are following CDC, State of CT and System Office guidelines to ensure your safety while on campus. Effective April 4, 2022, masks will be optional for all. “Masks optional” means individuals can choose whether to wear a mask or not. NVCC continues to support anyone who chooses to wear a mask at any time for any reason, and we expect all community members to respect the individual choices. Please see all the changes to the COVID Safety Plan effective 4/4/22 here. We understand you may have many questions about taking classes at NVCC. Below are answers to "Frequently Asked Questions" we hear from our students. Please reach out to us if you need additional assistance. We want you to succeed!

To keep our faculty, staff, students, and your children as safe as possible, we ask that you avoid bringing children to campus. On the Waterbury campus, children will not be permitted in classrooms, open computer labs, the library, or staff offices.

For your convenience, you may bring your child on short, business-only visits (no more than 10-20 minutes) to the Waterbury campus. All children over 2 years old must wear a face covering.

Masks can be obtained at the Information Center in Kinney Hall (5th floor) and in Academic Division Offices. Keep in mind that N95 masks are considered to be respirators, and some may find it difficult to breath when wearing one correctly. If you have concerns or questions about your ability to wear a mask of this style, please see your medical provider. Use of an N95 mask for protection against the virus at NVCC is considered to be voluntary under 29 CFR1910.134.

What is NVCC doing to ensure my safety?

NVCC follows recommendations set by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the CT Department of Public Health. As this guidance change, the college adapts their protocols. Disinfectant stations are available at all building entrances, masks are available for those who choose to wear one, and classroom seating has been arranged to provide more space where possible.

What are the student mask and social distancing guidelines?

Effective April 4, 2022, wearing face masks became optional. For Fall 2022, classrooms were set up to provide as much space between seats as possible.
