Program Overview

Program Overview

The associate degree nursing program at Naugatuck Valley Community College shares a common nursing curriculum with six other community colleges called the Connecticut Community College Nursing Program (CT-CCNP). Graduates are awarded an Associate in Science degree in nursing and are eligible to apply for the national licensure exam through the CT Department of Public Health. Sixty-five credits are required for graduation. The general education courses and a concept-based nursing curriculum model are sequenced to build from fundamental skills to more complex critical thinking skills. The nursing program, challenging in nature, demands that mathematics, science, social science and English skills be used as building blocks to further a student's knowledge of nursing practice.
