NVCC's automotive technician program accommodates both full and part-time students. Our instructors bring real-life experience to the classroom and share the same passion for the automobile as you do. Students learn using the most modern equipment, from Hunter, Snap-On, MAC, OTC and many more. Our curriculum is constantly updating to stay current with the latest developments from all the O.E.M.'s and manufacturers of aftermarket equipment.

Earn a degree

The Automotive Technician program at NVCC is accredited by the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF). Upon completion of this program, you are ready to take the ASE certification test.

  • Degree options include:
  • Career-oriented students are prepared for beginning positions as trained automotive technicians. Typical positions for which graduates are qualified include: Automotive Apprentice, Automotive Journeyman, Automotive Master Technician.

Earn a Certificate

Certificate programs in Automotive Fundamentals, Advanced Engine PerformanceGeneral Automotive Service are available to students who do not wish to pursue a full two-year course of study.

Get Hands On Experience in a State-of-the-Art Facility

NVCC's National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certified Master Automotive Technician Program is located in a state-of-the-art facility and the course of study is designed to accommodate both full- and part-time students, culminating in an Associate of Science degree. Service of today’s complex automobiles requires highly-trained technicians who have mastered a wide range of talents and skills. As technology rapidly increases in sophistication, most training authorities strongly recommend completing a formal training program. Because Automotive Technician program at NVCC is accredited by the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF), when you complete the program, you are ready to take the ASE certification test.

Furthermore, you may tailor your formal training at NVCC to fit your personal goals and needs by completing a certificate program as a stepping stone towards your associate degree.

Certificate in Automotive Fundamentals

The Automotive Fundamentals program can help you gain exposure to the automotive technology field. 

  • Get an understanding of the basic operating principles of an automobile.
  • Learn in-depth theory of brake, steering, and suspension systems.

Certificate in Advanced Engine Performance

The Advanced Engine Performance program enables a practicing automotive technician to develop the technical knowledge and skills associated with the advanced computer/electronic diagnostic systems and emission systems of today’s automobile.

As a student, you will develop:

  • an understanding of automobile engine operation and repair
  • an understanding of advanced electronic diagnosis and automotive emissions
  • an understanding of the relationship between scientific principles and their application in the automobile.

Certificate in General Automotive Service

The General Automotive Service program is designed to accommodate individuals desiring an understanding of engine operation and repair, along with knowledge of automotive electrical, brake, steering and suspension systems.

  • an understanding of automotive electrical theory and its application
  • in-depth theory of brake, steering, and suspension systems
