NVCC’s Hospitality Program Awarded Connecticut Community Foundation Grant for Senior Living Internships

Connecticut Community Foundation has announced the grant award to Naugatuck Valley Community College Hospitality Program in the amount of $20,000. The grant supports Hospitality Program student internships to encourage students to explore career opportunities in local assisted living facilities.

Smaller Manufacturers Association of CT (SMA) represents the interests of manufacturing in Connecticut, currently just under 200-member companies. NVCC Hosted Annual Manufacturing/STEM Expo in Collaboration with Waterbury Public Schools and Chamber of Commerce

Naugatuck Valley Community College hosted the annual STEM/Advanced Manufacturing and Technology Expo 2019 on Friday, November 1. With support from the Waterbury Board of Education, more than 500 hundred middle and high school students visited the event at the College to directly engage with local manufacturers and learn about job and career opportunities from area leaders in manufacturing.

Community College Humanities Association Honors Naugatuck Valley Community College’s Literary Magazine

Fresh Ink, NVCC’s literary journal, publishes the selected literary and artistic works of students and community members. It is an annual publication with a review board of NVCC faculty, alumni and students. The magazine publishes a call for literary contributions of poems, short stories and art to be submitted for board review prior to each annual edition.

Naugatuck Valley Community College Named Partner in Second Seven-year GEAR UP Grant

Connecticut is receiving a seven-year, $25.8 million Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) grant from the U.S. Department of Education. Naugatuck Valley Community College is one of three Connecticut community colleges collaborating with local public schools to implement the program.

Naugatuck Valley Community College President Daisy Cocco De Filippis, Ph.D.,hosted the press conference at NVCC where Governor Lamont announced his newest initiative to bring higher education, public and private partnerships and employers together in pursuit of workforce development.  Lamont signed an Executive Order to establish the Governor’s Workforce Council.
