Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care Program Reports NVCC’s Outcomes Consistently Favorable

Naugatuck Valley Community College has reported its annual outcomes for the College’s Respiratory Care Program to the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC). The commission affirmed that the NVCC program has met or exceeded all currently set thresholds for success on each of the required outcome measures in their Annual Report of Current Status and Resource Assessment Matrix.

Naugatuck Valley Community College Celebrates Fifth Annual Open House and Greater Waterbury Educational Leadership Breakfast

Naugatuck Valley Community College hosted its fifth annual Spring Open House on Sunday, April 23 from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Technology Hall Atrium where prospective students and their families visited NVCC’s Waterbury Campus. Faculty, staff, and student leaders were on hand to talk one-on-one with prospective students and visitors about applying to and attending NVCC. Campus tours were conducted throughout the day with stops at the Library, Academic Center for Excellence, Student Center, Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center, Hospitality Management Program, allied health labs, and other popular locations.

The Ion Bank Foundation recently presented a $15,000 gift to Naugatuck Valley Community College to name the Computer Lab in Founders Hall. President Daisy Cocco de Filippis, Ph.D. who accepted the check on behalf of the College, acknowledged the Ion Bank Foundation’s continuing support of NVCC’s students, “the Ion Bank Foundation has been a valued friend to this campus and to our collaborative efforts in the community. The Ion Bank Foundation’s generous gift will benefit our students and all who use the technology in this lab.”

Greater Waterbury Health Network Leads the Way in Support of the Naugatuck Valley Community College Center for Health Sciences

Darlene Stromstad, FACHE, President & CEO, Waterbury Hospital and Greater Waterbury Health Network (GWHN) presented NVCC President Daisy Cocco De Filippis, Ph.D. with a $150,000 contribution in support of the new Center for Health Sciences at the College.  Stromstad noted, “it’s about recognizing and honoring the important relationship between GWHN and NVCC. We are pleased to be the first health care sponsor for the Center.  Our new parent company, Prospect Medical Holdings, recognizes the NVCC/Greater Waterbury Health Network partnership and the positive impact it has had on healthcare in our region.  We are proud to be part of this new venture and look forward to it further bolstering our local healthcare workforce.”
