NVCC’s Constitution Trivia Premiers in Virtual Production with Traditional Wigs & Robes
The Naugatuck Valley Community College Student Activities and Student Government teams produced the College’s annual Constitution Trivia competition. Developed to promote awareness of the U.S. Constitution, the event was hosted in a virtual format on September 17, 2020. Student Activities Director, Karen Blake commented that the students’ level of knowledge and participation were “outstanding.”

Keeping with the 18th century tradition of our founding fathers, the contestants and game hosts wore the traditional white wigs (sans powder). During the early history of the United States, the court dress of judges and practicing lawyers closely mirrored British court dress of the 18th century; both wore white powdered wigs and (typically) black robes.

The event was enthusiastically attended with over 30 students and staff participating.  Students answered questions like “how many amendments does the constitution have?” to “who are our current senators in Connecticut?”

The top players were awarded Amazon gift cards for winning the rounds.  With many students and staff cheering on the contestants, students learned the history of the constitution.

Congratulations to this year’s top student participants, Dylawnie Wood and Katherine Miller!

Special thanks to the planning and direction of Student Activities Director, Karen Blake and her staff for keeping the tradition alive in the virtual setting with traditional costumes, lively questions and great prizes.
